Hi Susan! Nice post - as always. ;-)

Just wanted to second everything you said and add a reminder to people that the e-mail message accompanying their resume usually gets printed out and attached to the resume; and then it's viewed by all the people who are part of the interview process. So in effect, it gets compared to snail mail cover letters also in the pile of potentials. People sometimes forget that their e-mail message can play an important ongoing role in helping them stand out from the crowd!

Warm regards,
Ronnie Ann

Great tips, Susan, and quite comprehensive! I'm saving this to share with my job-seeker clients!

Job seekers often become overwhelmed with the details of executing their plan, so it is easy to overlook important nuances such as how to edit one's signature block to not include an inspirational message, or how to write a 'great' versus 'standard' or sub-standard subject line.

Every detail of the email should cater to the reader's needs, and you've covered all those details.

Thank you!
