Belated Thank You Note

Question
In July, I accepted a "contingent" job offer from a prospective employer. The primary contingency was that the company would be awarded a contract for some work at a local facility. The time frame for the award is expected to be this month. I thought it was a good idea to call them and follow up, but was previously advised not to do so. However, I still think otherwise. Although the answer reads as if I didn't give any "Thank you," I did previously give thanks for consideration and the offer in an email after the offer was accepted(but without any of the other usual/formal items that are included in a Thank You Letter) . The question was more to do with whether I should have provided more of the extras also to make it a more formal Thank You Letter or was a simple email saying "Thanks for the offer and consideration" enough.

I won't hurt to send a hardcopy thank you letter, and it might be just the prompt you're hoping for. I say, go for it! Write a formal thank you letter that you send via U.S. Post.
