If your name is Chris, Pat, Robyn, or another name that doesn't indicate whether you're a man or woman, should your resume somehow let the employer know what sex you are?
If you suspect there might be a gender preference for the job you're seeking, and it's to your advantage for the employer to know that you're the preferred gender, then do something like:
- Add your middle name if it's gender-specific.If you're not the preferred gender for the job you're after, maybe you want to keep the employer guessing until you walk in for the interview. At that point you can discuss the qualifications that make you a good job candidate.
- Use the formal version of your name, such as Christopher or Christine.
